On Saturday May 14th 2022 tragedy struck our community and claimed the lives of 10 people who were simply shopping at Tops Market on Buffalo's Eastside.

One of the victims, Ms. Pearl Young, 77 was a member of the Senior Program and taught computer classes at Gloria Parks Community Center on Mondays and Wednesdays.
You may even have seen her dishing out lunches after Hustle for Health class.

Please join us in supporting the fundraising efforts for the Pearl Young Scholarship Fund. This fundraiser was created by her friend and fellow church member Valencia Williams.
The scholarship will benefit students at the Emerson school of hospitality, a cutting-edge school that provides hands-on experience to those looking to successfully gain employment in the hospitality industry and will serve to honor the selflessness that Pearl Young demonstrated throughout her life.

As a grieving community, we must not forget Pearl and the other victims of this attack and honor them for all they have done for the city of Buffalo!
Pearl Young was a vibrant ray of light. At age 77, she was full of life, still working, still volunteering.
She worked as a missionary at a food pantry in Buffalo’s central park neighborhood and volunteered her time EVERY Saturday over the last 25 years! She was also the wife of a pastor, a substitute teacher for Buffalo public schools, and a Sunday school teacher!
Pearl was devoted to her church, Good Samaritan Church of God in Christ.
